your choice is not bad! U might also want to consider apexi N1 for turbo?

Ive got the N1 nonturbo model on my GS and i had the 3" N1 from Apexi on my 95 GSX before the engine decided to blow itself up.....N1 is my reccommendation.

Thermal exhausts are loud! They have a deep sound, but to some people, they are way too loud on a daily basis. Good exhaust system, imo. Also look at A'pexi exhausts.

I have a 3" Thermal and IMO it's just loud enough. Loud enough to turn heads and make ricers squint to see what's coming their way and loud enough to linger in the distance as you drive by. It's a great exhaust.

Need the truth about backpressure...how worried about it should I be? I'm thinking about a magnaflow muff on straight 2.5" pipe coming off the DP and dumped somewhere in the middle...

2.5 is perfect after the downpipe because exhaust temperatures are hotter and travel quicker, once they pass the cat switch it to 3" where the exhaust temps are cooler and more room is there for the air to escape, if you check out RRE's site www.roadraceengineering.com you can read some shit about exhausts. they know what they are talking about.
