guys i'm seriously freaking out. Just got the word from AAMCO, and he like actually had trouble giving me this quote... but he said that i would need a complete rebuild, bearing kit, synchros, clutch assembly, resurfacing of the fly wheel.. $2200 total, after i told him i was a broke-ass unemployed student he said $1980, but what the fuck!? i dont want to spend that much money (and cant) to fix a BUZZING in my transmission!!! where can i cut corners?
If i had never gotten into cars, i could still afford to eat.

there won't be any resurfacing of any flywheel. ours are rivited to the clutch

they might not know that our clutches are modular. i have no idea what the price would be for a new tranny

Here are your options: 1) ignore it. It doesn't sound very serious from the descriptions i've read of your problem.
2) buy a used tranny, install it yourself. You can pick up used transaxles for $5-600, sometimes cheaper.

ok i'm going to tell them to leave my clutch be... because i'm going to get a sport clutch in the near future (after this BS)... but should i also tell them to not touch the flywheel in addition to that, being that it is rivited to the clutch? and what does modular mean? thanks a lot for your help btw peterson
