Technically, it's the same thing. You're just taking material off the bottom of the cylinder head to increase compression. Milling insures that the bottom surface is perfectly flat and will seal properly. Don't know what the distinction of a "shaved" surface would be like.

yes I did, and yes u almost have to in order for your new head gasket to seal perfctly. try not to shave to much or you will have some problems with the head bolts bottoming out, and worest, your valves will slap into your pistons.
