Well, I turned out, and got to 55, and the speedo dropped to 0. the car only felt to have 2nd gear. I pull over, and it drops rpm's until the car stalls. It's auto. Is my tranny blown?

Weird. I had almost same problems 2 days ago. No shift after the 2nd, and when the gear changes from 1st to 2nd, there was a jerk (sp?).
I went to the satan, and it's turned out due to speed sensor (I am not sure the exact name). Mine was not a big problem.
Hope this helps.

p.s. Do you have your 'service engine soon' light lightening?
Mine was.

It may just be in Limp Mode. Reset your ECU & TCU and you should be okay again... for a while anyways. Going into limp mode is usually cause by too much slippage. Could be your torque converter.

I dunno. I have a a CEL, but it's been on for a while b/c the cat was bad. Anyhow, I have a diagnostics handheld thing. auto x-ray. I am gonna use it and see if it reads a new code. If not, I'll reset the computer with it. It feels more like it's something internal.

I pulled up the codes and there were 3, the cat, which I already knew, malfunction, incorrect ratio or something, I think the code was P720 or 722. And output speed sensor code. The one said Malfunction- incorrect ratio. Does this mean my gears are gone? or what?

I can almost bet money it's your speeddo sensor. You need to replace it.

You ECU doesn't know how fast your going so I guess it can't determine shift points.

I'd fix that sensor B4 openning up your trans.

that's a good point. I wasn't thinking that 1 main problem could confuse the computer to cause other codes to be thrown. Thanks for bringing it to my attention, b/c I was figuring on a full scale performance rebuild. We will see what happens after a sensor.
Also, the diagnostics- auto x-ray thing said MIS on. Is MIS limp mode, or something with the tester probably? This thing will let me see throttle %, digital tach, etc. Pretty effin' sweet.

I had two sensors replaced on my trans. within the first month of having it(brand new). First it was the range sensor(shifting sporadically) and the next time it was the input sensor(wouldn't shift any farther than 2nd gear). It was fine for abour four months and then I had stalling problems. After Mitsu had my car for three weeks, they found out that was the crank angle sensor. My car has been fine since then.

I had the same problem about a month ago, exact same thing. I had it diagnosed and it was the output side of the vehicle speed sensor. the dealer wanted to charge me almost 250 bucks to change it!!! its like a 25$ sensor, and can be changed it less than 15 min. if your runnin the 420a engine you can pick it up at any chrysler dealer and do it yourself.

I can probably get it for cheaper. My dad has connections with factory parts sometimes. probably $20. I am relieved that it's a cheap part and a simple task. We weren't sure it'd be easy to access.

It doesn't throw a CEL, but a code comes up for having 205-40 tires on instead of 45's. I guess that was what the additional code was. I tried it under OBD2 mitsu, and it read way more stuff. Coolant temp, engine temp, etc.
