#29275, "ticking noise"

I just replaced my head gasket and put new valve springs, lifters, and rockers on. I also put new plugs in. I started it up today for the first time and i'm getting a ticking noise. I got a code 43 which is a misfire. I checked the wires and 2 of them were not in the ohm range in my chiltons book so I'm going to go get new wires tomorrow. My question is: Can bad wires be making that ticking noise? I can't see how they could be making the noise. Can u guys give me an opinion on what u think it is, I don't want to rip everything out again and I hope its not a valve hitting a piston or anything. Thanks.

When my wires went bad my car would stumble in 3-5 at low rpms, but it definitely didnt tick. That should help a little I hope

Well, it wasn't the wires. It sounds like a valve tapping. I had the machine shop replace the springs and valve seals so they shouldn't be bad. I'm pretty pissed right now, i've been without my car for a month now and i'm really afraid that I'm going to have to take everything back apart. Any ideas you have would be apprecited. Thanks.

ok, Ive got another question for ya, have you checked to make sure all the spark plugs are tightened down? And two does the ticking noise get faster as you get higher in rpm's? If it does then you may have a spun bearing, cuz thats what my car did. People said it sounded lke someone was beating on the intake manifold with wrenches, but it didnt seem that loud to me. That may have been because of my loud ass exhaust and system.
