#29148, "Man...that cat. bolts is a !$!#!#!"

I tried to install my testpipe today, but the damn cat. bolts are tighter than a virgin on prom night. I even tried to push the wrench with my foot and that shit just will not budge. It's funny how when we install the turbo, the bolts came right off, this time it didn't. Oh well, I guess I can try again tommorow.

Did you completely drench the bolts in WD40? I heard that will help do the trick.

Right. Get rust penetrant and if necessary a towel to soak it in to do its trick over night. It's better than breaking one of those bolts, and then going through a whole ordeal in having to drill them out or have them break off within the flange.

Hey Jason, I tried that method where you soak that thing overnight and wrap it with a sock or something. For some reason, it didn't work, but it worked wonders when we took off the downpipe during the turbo install. Oh well, I'll try again tommorow, if not, I'll let my friend do it at his workplace for like 10 bucks.

I see. Use more penetrant and a bigger towel. Also try hammering it a couple of times on the side of the flange to loosen up the rust some. emoji

Yes, but on the bottom end of it, from the DP to the CAT.

I, too, tried to remove those cat bolts to gut it, and that sucker won't even budge. That thing was on there for good. So, I just gave up because I'm planning to have a 3" dp/straght pipe made up soon.

haha, i've never even got that thing off when I installed the hrc kit. I just pulled it far down as I can and cut the stock downpipe with a rotozip. But impact wrench should definitely do the trick.
