Hey, whats up everybody? I need a new motor for my 97 eclipse..Should I go with a new factory motor, or is there a better motor I can get for it without doing hella mods...thanx

search around and see if you can find a used one, Satan is a bitch (hence the name satan)

thanx..luckily I've got warranty payin for it, but if I can spend a few hundred dollars extra and get a better motor, I'm thinking I might as well just do that..

well, I don't know if there's a better motor, but through howell you can rebuild your motor and have it bored etc....which = more power (not much but still an increase) and stronger internals, and if you decide you can get higher compression pistons and get even more power.

the built bottom from howell doesnt make more power by itself but it makes the engine stronger and therefore more capable of handling more power later ( also makes it last longer).. ex..when you turbo you can run more boost or a bigger shot of nitrous...

Yes and no.... what you said is true but if you go with higher compression pistons you will have more HP. Thats why my celica with its 11.5:1 compression pistons can put out 180 hp out of a 1.8 liter.

But in answer to the big question, what do you plan on doing with the car?? If you are planning on serious HP then go with stronger rods/pistons. If you are just doing basic bolt-ons or even the stage 1 or 2 turbo kits then just go with the factory internals.
