#28160, "Cylinder Honning process"

I am geting my engine rebuilt and the person who is doing it does more v8's than anything. I found out that there is a different honning process for the nickel sleeves than the v8s. I need to know what that difference is so I can tell the machine shop what they need to do just to make sure that they dont do it wrong.

Before I had this car I had money.

it's a cast iron block, same as most V8's. there is nothing special you need to do. This isn't a Honda emoji

Call 1 (814) 443-2418 and tell them I told you to call. They do our machine work for us, and they have special tools that we bought them to use. They currently have only honing plate in the country for the 420A/Neon engine because we had it built. You can ship them your block and pistons and get top knoch work.

Normal honing doesn't use a plate. This for performance creates and uneven cylinder when the head is torqued.

A torque plate simulates the head being bolted on during boring and honing so the cylinders don't oval out any when you put your head on, I didn't know anyone had made one for the 420A(Thanks again Gary). Th eroque plate is engine spacific, so there is no standard torque plate.

the guy who is building my engine made a custom torque plate and also custom plates for his flowbench so the head can be ported. he has been building engines for over 20 years, all types so he knows his stuff.

Before I had this car I had money.
