My car's an automatic (which sucks). In 4th gear, it sits on 4000 rpm, but still has lots of balls left, but I can't seem to get any more out of it. I'm sure it has more than 170kph in it...

yeah mine is an auto too. im guessing your going about 110 when this happens. mine did that stock but since i did some mods ive got up to 120 (the car had more but the straightaway didnt). if thats not it then i dont know whats going on but our cars dont have a speed limiter. only the gs-t's (tsi 2wd) have them.

I don't know the type of tires that you have on your car but the limiter is on non GSX eclipses because the tires can blow if you go faster then the limited speed. The GSX is different because it comes stock with Z rated tires. So if you do this mod please change you tires first.

ok huddy your right and wrong. of the turbo models the gsx (tsi awd) is the only one without a speed limiter. your right about the tires and all that shit but non-turbos dont have a speed limiter because no one thought they could go that fast. (how wrong they were) so like i said the gs-t is the only eclipse with a speed limiter!

Turn off OD and just keep it floored. Don't do it when you're already up there but from like when you're in 2nd or 3rd or something. It'll still go through all the gears but TCU won't be butting in on your speed daemoning fun. Just be careful when you let off cuz it will try to go to 3rd. Not a good thing.

I've been up to about 127 128 but I let up cuz well ... that's really DAMN fast for a little one lane road.

Well, I have been upto 140mph without any problem. I have a 5speed so maybe that is why, but I had a LOT of power to go faster. I was messing with a 97-99 Rustang Cobrat at the time...

...the ONLY 2G DSM's with govoners are the GS-T's. The 2GNT's don't have them because they never thought we could go that fast. The GS-T sure could and GSX's weigh more so it's kinda difficult for them but(like previously stated) they have higher performing tires. I've taken my car to 135mph before I ran outta road and had to slow down. BTW do some suspension work before going that fast(just in case you haven't) 'cause you will start to "float".

so the ecu upgrade from tmo.com (techno motive) don't take off a speed limiter. i've heard that they cars have an air:fuel ratio that it can't exceede or something like that, and the ecu cuts the fuel because it dosen't like to hear the "knock".....
i've had my 95 rs 5 speed up to 130, but then i ran out of road also. my friend w/the same deal said he had his up to 150...but i don't know on these roads, in most places it's hard to keep 60-70 mph.

i don't know.... but i was planning on buying the ecu upgrade from tmo.com, even if just for the security system. you have to put in a gas/brake/clutch password kinda deal to get it to start!!!
