I bought my 97 RS used a little while ago, but I got it though a guy at an auction. It's got about 75k miles on it now, so how can I find out if the 60k service was performed, I don't really want to just assume it was.
One other question, it's kinda stupid, but how can i check if there is an alarm installed? There was a remote for one in the glove box when I got the car, but it's busted, I also found some Clifford stuff wired up under the dash. I don't really know anything about alarms so I don't know what else to look for. tia

look for a black horn under the hood and find a small black box that says Clifford underneath the dash and oh yeah see if you have a blinking red light someone near the dash. If you have all, then you have an alarm.

If your timing belt looks like it needs replacing(you can check through the upper timing belt case cutout), then the 60k service was probably not done. You may want to go ahead and do it anyway, cause blowing a timing belt(or loosing tention) starts to get expensive when you start smacking the valves into the pistons.
