#27585, "EGT numbers..."

Well I reinstalled my EGT probe tonight and went for a spin. Going down the highway (80 mph) my egts were like 1300, is this normal? Cruising through town and sitting at stoplights it was around 1000. I am running a 4-1 header and for some reason these numbers seem higher than when I was running the stock exhaust manifold. Any thoughts are appreciated.

What numbers did you get before the new header?

Those numbers are fine.

I want to say they were 100-200 lower with the stock manifold. The only known issue with the car is the front O2 sensor, but I wouldn't think that would change anything. If anything they would be lower because I would be richer right?

My a/f meter is cycling weird but I would assume that is because of the faulty O2 sensor. At WOT it is in the green but not all the way to the last bar like before, it is in the middle/top of the green. The car also idles a little lumpy right now and seems like it wants to die when I stop. I plan on changing plugs here in the near future.

Your getting smarte emoji Your EGT number are fine, just wait until you boost it and see 1550 at 20psi in fourth.

Full tune up and new o2 will fix your problems.

I always thought full on 'tube' headers ran hotter then most stock exhaust manifolds.

and yeah, running richer can lower your EGT's.. but if you run to rich it can actually raise your EGT's drastically cause unburned gas will enter the header, hit the hot metal, ignite IN THE HEADER, and then your EGT's go way up.. hehe.
My motorcycle was running so lean that the exhaust pipe is 'blued' all the way back to the muffler.. haha. I got that fixed now.. but the pipe is still blued, anybody got any recommendations on good 'bluing' removers? hehe
