I just got my cam gears installed and I have a few questions that some of u guys might be able to help me with. On every advertisement for AEM cam gears and also my installation instructions says they are adjustable +/- 10 degrees. On the sprockets themselves it states that each mark = 2 degrees crank. To set them at +2 intake and -2 exaust, which mark do I go 2, the first or second? It seems like I get the most gain using the second mark. But when I set them there, my car has serious problims idiling. It just goes dead if I dont goose the gas while the clutch is in or i'm stopped. Sometimes the RPM's dip down really low, but then it recovers and idiles somewhat like it should. Before I put the gears on it still sometimes had this problim, but not near as frequently. It doesent die out as bad when set on the first mark, but like I said it seem to pull harder on the second mark! What is the F@!#ing problim here! Any help will be appreciated. THanks

okay, i thought when it was +2 -2 we were talking about the timing marks on the pulleys. well, i dunno, what is everyone else setting it at, cause when i set my cam gears to +2 -2 degrees using the marks on the cam gears i have a slightly rough idle, but there is a definite increase in power. I haven't dyno'd it so i have no real numbers, but i wonder if i should really be at +1 -1 on the cam gears. well anyone else know what is the correct setting?

The setting we are talking about is in Degrees. I dyno'd my car with it. 2 degrees advanced is ONE MARK on the cam gear. I also dyno'd 4 degrees advance/4 deg retard exhaust (which is the two marks you are talking about) and it made things slightly worse. But each car is different so the only way to know for sure is to dyno your car, but its usually about $100/hour.
