#27044, "Anyone wanna predict my problem?"

Well well. the time has come. my 96 2gnt motor has finally started to give me problems. But i was expecting this seeing how the engine has 109,000 miles on it. Well heres how it started. On my way home from work, i started to hear i small knocking. But the noise dissipated at different rpms. So i decided its time for a complete rebuild. Well I took off the oil pan tonite to find small metal flakes/chips in the bottom of the pan. Thats deff not a good thing. lol. I havent taken anything else apart on it yet. What do u think it will be that is making that noisy commotion and those metal flakes?

Pieces of your bearing. Probably done the reliable spun rod bearing.

Shit is all apart. Typical...

When u say "rebuild" what do u mean. Just new crankshaft bearings or what? If u were in my situation, what would you do while u had that thing apart?

Well... Looks like you and I are in the same boat (http://www.2gnt.com/dcforum/DCForumID13/5646.html) You probably need a new (or reground) crankshaft and at least one rod and rod bearing (undersized to match new crank).

I'm thinking about either a bottom end rebuild or a used engine from a junk yard.

Anyone know anyone who can help me tune this in the Pittsburgh area (Greensburg)?

...machining the crank and the correct size bearing (already stated). the dealer sells 3 sizes and I think clevite makes 2 so you would need the sizes and have the shop machine the crank to that size. That is what is needed at least.
