When i wrecked my car a little while back it crushed some parts of my exhaust. It isnt too bad but it is dented in about 5 different places including the downpipe and catalytic converter. lastnight i raced a civic and i couldnt tell if i won or lost cause we didnt really stop, we just punched it and i was ahead but at the end he started pulling like a bat out of hell. I have an intake and that is it, but could i be losing a lot of hp from that crushed exhaust? I think he had more than just an exhaust on his civic because it pulled on me fast.

i'm not an expert by any means, but my guess would be that if you dented the downpipe, cat, muffler and some the piping, that would affect the exhaust flow and slow it down, which would probably result in a loss of hp. kinda like when you put a kink in a water hose.

"A stock civic (like an 95 EX) will beat any eclipse NA anyday, believe me or not, they are much lighter and the eclipse is slow because of its weight."
I don't think so. Your talking 115/120 horse 95 Civic vs. 140 horse NA Eclipse. Even with the weight, the torque of the Eclipse gives it more power. Only reason I'm doubting that is cause I've raced a few Civic's in my Eclipse years, and I've beaten a few of them. Of the one's I raced, they had NA mods on them. Now I couldn't take on an SI, but I could sure take on a 95 stock.

Im going to have to call BS on the civic beating any NA Eclipse. My GS is pretty much stock except for a custom intake and new muffler. My friend has a 99 EX with a good intake and i pull on him alllll day long. As for the exhaust question..here is an example. Press bent piping vs mandrel bent..thats all i have to say.
Oh yeah, Erik, if no one wants the stock cat, could i have it??

i have a short ram intake, wires and a muffler and smoke ex s all day. i also raced a buddy of mine that has a 99 si with aem cai, dc header and greddy catback, i was able to smoke him the first 1/8 then he smoked me from a second drop(obvioulsy the high end torque from full exhaust. i am able to stay dead even with stock si's. as for the loss to crushed exhaust, i think you are definatly losing power from it.
