#26700, "Picking up car from Eng. rebuild on Monday got a question?"

When I get my car my mechanic told me not to take it over 70mph for like the first 200 miles or so. But I have a long hour and a half highway trip back to my place, will this be ok if I keep it at like 65mph the whole way? And also can I break in the engine fast? In like a week and just put on a lot of miles a day? I want to put on like 250 miles a day, is this ok? I know you need to put 500 miles on a clutch and that has to be all city driving, but does it matter on the engine? Just wanted to make sure because this was very expensive and don't want to fu@k anything up.
Thanks for any help,
Patrick

u wanna vary your engine's rpms after a rebuild, and when new so that the rings set properly... drive like 60, downshift, and go to 80, and coast back down... just vary your engine speed (rpms) and dont be redlinin til at least 5-750 miles afterwards....

good luck

I just got my car back from satan last friday and I have put more than 1000 miles on my car already. Most of them were highway miles, but I kept switching from 5th to 4th every couple of minutes just to keep the rpms varied. I also changed my oil at 500 miles, which you should do, and plan on doing it again at 1500. At that point Im gonna switch back over to synthetic.

Yeah that was my plan. I will change the oil every 500 miles then at 1500 miles go back to synthetic. Thats a lot of miles keep it up your almost there. What do you think about boosting low at like 2psi at arround the 1200 mile mark? This would help the breakin right?
Thanks for the feed back,
Patrick
