Hi,

I am the proud owner of a '95 eagle talon Esi. I love my car to death. I am now getting the car turbo charged by a very close friend of mine, and now my question is.....My car has 104,000 miles on it, what do you think would be the best thing for me to do: Get the same 420 engine with lower miles and swap in, or get new internals for my older engine that would support the turbo like a newer engine would. And cost is also a issue, but i would like to know that the best choice would be. Also, If i should just replace the internals of my old engine, what should I replace pistons, rings, connecting rods etc?

Thank you ahead of time for helping get my car faster and remain as reliable as before.

P.S. What would be the best plan for getting a very very very loud blowoff valve sound? Any BOV suggestions or certain boost amount or tips and tricks for me? Thank you!!

I'd say build your existing engine for higher boost. You'll lessen your chance of blowing up compared to getting a new 'stock' engine. Plus did I mention that you can run more boost. Howell has a whole complete bottom end kit.

Hey, thanks for responing man. That kit but that is very expensive and costs more then just getting a newer engine.....Is there any certain parts that you would recomend replacing instead of buying that whole kit?

well.. if you want your engine to be bullet proof, i would go with the kit. this will make your engine 100xs stronger than any new engine swapped in, and would be up to the challange of handling boost (or higher boost). if you cannot afford to get the kit, i would try and get the kit piece by piece.. although, you will probably end up spending more money... basically, if you want a strong enough engine to handle boost without worries, either do the swap and keep the boost down and maintain it well, or get the rebuild kit.

also, do a compression test on your existing engine, you never know.. you might be able to boost that for now and rebuild later.

Awesome advice dude! I have a compression tester when i test my compression tomarrow....how much compession should i be reading to be able to safley run enough boost to make a very loud BOV sound?

a very loud bov is the RFL that turbo xs makes but you gotta run like 12 lbs of boost for it to work properly
