#26413, "Building Block, freeze plug question"

When I had my block machined, they took out the freeze plugs(?). Neither Satan or Dodge dealerships carry them, have to be ordered.

Where can I get them? Are they a standard part any Mopar machine shop will have lying around? Can I knock em out of my old block and reuse them?

Also- what sealant should I use to glue em in? The manual & chiltons don't say.

This is what I need:

Call up a parts house with the measurements and someone will have them. They usually carry things like that, I've never had trouble getting them. As far as sealant goes, you DONT put it on freeze plugs, they are pressed fit and seal themselves. Just make sure you use the plug driver and clean the seating area really good.

yo Dan,
you can get the plugs at pep boys, i've seen them there before, you have to clean the mating surface well and tap them in carefully. I have only done this once on a bmw, and when i tapped it in it sealed itself, they are made to only go in one way and when the pressure from the water presses them outward they seal tighter, but you have to realy make sure the surface in the block is smooth and free from pits.
