I have a lot of friends that are die hard Honda fanatics and swear by the potential of their vtec heads.
My question is, since we have smaller ports and smaller valves can we safely and accurately match the potential of the vtec heads while staying streetable?
I was planning on doing some porting with stiff valve springs and a significant cam upgrade.

small ports and valves? I thought the 420a head was very well flowing with large ports and valves.. but I suppose I could have remembered that wrong.. hehe.

I love posts like this. I'll make my point short and sweet tha I'll explain.
BIGGER IS NOT ALWAYS BETTER WHEN IT COMES TO AIRFLOW. Our cylinder heads do in fact OUTFLOW VTEC HEADS. Don't question it, accept it. I've taken the cylinder head to be flowbench tested twice and found out two surprising things. The 1st one is that it outflows 4G-63T, I was told that it did but I was skeptical. While I was there the guy also told me that the numbers were higher than any stock VTEC head he'd ever tested. Come to find out later it was even published in Mopar magazine last year. Our cylinder heads are small even tiny, but what makes it so fast is the short length between the ports and getting to and from the combustion chamber. You go to big an port NA and you'll lose velocity (on turbo apps it's fine), but for NA, unless you're experienced, smoothing will help do wonders in the ports as well as smoothing the bowls. What all this means is that chrysler could've have given us more HP out of the box but didn't feel the need to because of the factory turbo option. It also costs money and I know my car was only as expensive, when I 1st got it, as a Civic EX (VTEC SOHC). Needless to say I got the faster car.

So what do you suggest? You think that buy adding bolt-ons and some match porting with increased compression that I would pass the 210 mark?
