#25891, "spun bearing problem is coming to a conclusion"
Well I dropped my car off at satun friday afternoon and they told me that they wouldnt be able to look at it until mon morning since it was so late. They gave me a call this morning asking if I still had any of my oil change receipts and of course I didnt save any of them so I said no. Well the guy said he will talk to the rep and see if they can still perform the work under warranty. Of course Im now thinking Im gonna go through the same shit fast420a did. I get another call from the guy and he says that since I dont have any of the reciepts they will have to drop the oilpan and check to see if there is any sludgy residue, if there is I will have to pay them for labor and it wont be covered and if there isnt it will be covered at no cost. So now Im worried cuz the engine was like 2 quarts low on oil when the bearing spun (damn blowby), but I just got a call telling me that my new shortblock will be covered under warranty and will be here on wed. They said I can expect to get my car back on friday.

i gave my engine a nice and easy 5000 mile breakin, and i changed my oil every 1000 miles. remember it is not how fast you are going it is what rpm you are at, keep the rpm changing don't let the engine rev at X rpm for too long other wise bad stuff can happen.

well Im not getting a whole new engine, but the whole bottom end will be replaced with a brand new one. Personally if I had to fix it myself I would have bought a howell bottem end kit and went that route. I have seen used 420a shortblocks go for 500 bucks before.
Ive heard that you should change the oil after the first 500 miles and to not drive on the highway continuosly until after that point. Ive also heard that it is good for the engine to have short bursts of acceleration and then rapid deceleration. Is that true???
