I would say check your ignition components first( wires, spark plugs, coil pack)and if thats not it maybe its fuel related ( fuel filter, injectors) or maybe the pump is getting ready to go. Anyone else have ideas.

Well here's several Q's when was the last time you did a tune up ... fuel filter change, plugs etc. what mods if any installed. Yes the hot summer weather will take hp away including A/C if used. Oh yeah check the exhaust/intake for any obstructions small animals/rock/small objects, usually find there way in the large diameter exhaust. a dirty fuel filter will make the car hesitate, lose power in long trips.

hope this helps.

Is the bad smell coming out of your exhaust? I've heard it called rotten eggs and sulfer. Basically, it smells completely different than exhaust or unburnt feul, and it smells really bad.

It sounds like the catalytic converter to me. Cars run like shit when the cat gets all gunked up. It must be getting ungunked after it cools down a bit. I wouldn't keep it on too long, my uncle's Couger went up in a blaze of glory when his caught fire.

If your gas mileage sucks, it may be your o2 sensors.
