Ok, reading Chiltons and the 420a Overhaul manual, and there's a ton of different Loctite part numbers.

Do I need all these Loctites? Where do I get them? Wouldn't just regular anaerobic gasket sealer work for all these?

Loctite 51817 (Head, cam bearing caps, oil pump)
Loctite 19614 (Block/Bedplate joint)
Loctite 18718 (camshaft cap corners, round seal)
Loctite 18716 (oil pump/bedplate joint)
Loctite 518 (cam bearing caps)
Loctite 5699 (head semi-circle packing)

(and what's up with Mitsu's 15 "special tools" are they even necessary?)

Go for red loctite med strength. This keeps the bolts from backing out/ but does permently seal them in. I have been using this stuff for years and never had a problem.

Yes, there are different Loctites for each application. Certain loctites won't interfere with any electrical/sensors, some will. There are differences in how it reacts to different heat ranges, oils, etc.
