I just received my 60mm Jeep TB from Talon95Stang(larry). I installed it and all, hooked all the sensors back up, my intake, yadda yadda. Well, i hook my Neg.terminal back up on my battery and start her up to check for a good idle. WELL, It screamed up to 4500 after i turned the car on...that was as far as it got until i cut the car off, who knows what it would have went too. So my obvious question is....what the hell happened? what did I do wrong? is this normal?(I tend to think not)...help needed.

I heard of that happenen to a few people bro, you might have to take a look at it and have a dremel tool cause it sounds like the spring isnt closing your throttle plate correctly

ACT flywheel, ACT 2600, Joe P MBC, Autometer boost guage, Buschur DP, Buschur high flow cat, prothane motor mounts, BM tranny lsd insert, K&N,balance shafts eliminated, EGR blocked, free mods, and sweet ass 16g @ 18psi.

I did do a search on this and the info i found was kind of vague. I guess i can check the throttle plate, but I don't have any dremel tool or anything else to fix it if that is what i do need. If anyone can give me some detailed help, it would be appreciated.

...is the butterfly closing. The spring is the only thing that does this. If the spring doesn't have enough tension to keep it shut when it is in idle then it should be replaced. I use the original spring from the bigger TB and it is not that simple to remove. Do you have a picture to see the spring?

Well, I just got done playing around with it. It is indeed the spring. when i let off the gas it is idling at 1500-2000 now, and when i go under the hood and push the spring it closes a little and the ilde goes down to 1000-1100. So I guess that is the problem. The thing is, i got this from talon95stang already made so i don't have the Jeep spring. So now what? UGH....i had a feeling i was going to run across some kind of problem. i guess i will put my stock back on until i know what to do.

this is starting to really piss me off now. i just put my stock TB back on and now it is doing the same gotdamn thing the other was doing...reving high, everything seems to be fine...the spring and all that....this really sucks...the only good thing that might come out of this is I won't have to go to work tomorrow because of the car.

Ok,I messed with it a little more. It now idles at 1400-1500. What happened I do not know. I even put a new gasket in. I drove it around the block to see how it handled it still seems to run fine other than the high idle. I did decide to do the key dance just to see if I got a new code to add to the list...sure enough code 25 "idle air control motor circuit"....figures....this has turned out to be a real bust....pretty disappointed, I will figure something out, any suggestions are welcome....until then...I am going to bed....

I had the EXACT same problem Double wrap the return spring bro. Its hard to get it around there a couple times but do it, then use a washer to seperate the but val opener from the tp and keep the spring where its supposed to be, it will get caught between where u drmelled and the tb, I acctually used a damn screw to hold it in place, yea Im ghetto. But what kind of gains did u feel from all of this nonsense, I felt big ass improvement, until today when after my car broke I put it back together, coudl just be cuz my cars still broke, but if I had to do it again, Id keep stocker. But just check that return spring, and clean the inside out really really well, and make sure that the throttle cable isnt too tight. With that mod I got a code 24, 24 again, 25, 71, 72, 43, I dont know why, but they all went away today, except he 24

Sounds like the IAC on the Jeep TB may be bad and then after you re-installed your stock one, the code is still in the ECU and it will still act funny. When my IAC went bad the car was idling funny after I replaced it until I reset the ECU.
