I'm thinking of picking up a Hotshot header, what do you guys think? Also, it's used and what if it doesn't have the EGR opening? My car's a 95 and Hotshot makes two different headers. The 96 one doesn't have an EGR opening. Thanks guys.

I don't have Hotshot, but I'm happy with my Hooker Header.

It's not a hook up for EGR it's the pulsed secondary air system. And there is a TSB to have it removed. After 95 they decided it was uneeded, and they remove it. So I say get th eheader without it, and remove the unneeded parts.

I've got the HotShot setup on my car. Pleased with the performance but not with the fit and finish. The welds on the inside of the ports are ugly and the flange, on mine, didn't line up properly with the bottom right bolt.

I believe you can get the 97-99 header for your car and simply do away with the EGR, but you have to do the block off mod before it will work right. So to be safe, just get the 95 header and hook everthing up. Then do the mod to remove the EGR later.

My hotshot header is the biggest piece of $hit. But you know that already. It's leaking and of very poor quality. One of the connectors broke off completely and fitment isn't good at all. I hate it and it's coming off very soon

I think the Hotshot header looks good, but mine leaks at the connectors after an incident with a dog. I don't think small exhaust leaks are a big deal though since that's just like having a more freely flowing exhaust system right? I'm happy with mine, I wouldn't pay over 300 for it though.

A dog?... nevermind...

No leaks are very bad. They disrupt smooth airflow which can reduce power. The whole idea of headers and high flow cats and mandral bends etc is to get smooth FAST air flow. Leaks in the exhaust at holes ot flanges, etc, are bad and do not help power.

Hmmm how big of a difference do you think a leak at the connectors would make? I wonder if it's worth it to get mine fixed. RRE suggested to just cut off that connector and make actual flanges (the hotshot comes with one tube that cost inside of the larger tube, so it's not a real flanged connection). I wonder how bad my leak really is, because at idle, there is a strong exhaust smell from the engine, but my engine has always smelled rich.

I definately think it's worth fixing, of course not at the price of a new one Because I also don't know what kind of damage the dog dig. bending pipes and changing airflow canm havea big effect on the power especially close to the head.

I have a rich smell as well... which IO blame on teh stock portion ofmy flex section... I don't think it's sealing well. But I'm still decidign on what my final plans are for the downpipe.

I don't think the dog bent anything much at all, but when I ran over the dog, which was already dead, it broke the two pieces of the header apart. I had a u-clamp on it at the time it broke apart. Then the exhaust shop managed to get bolts to connect it (like it was meant to be connected in the first place), but I think the connection is just not tight enough since the Hotshot design has one pipe sliding into the other. I don't think I want to bother spending more money fixing it, maybe I'll just sell it and go back to stock since I think headers help out manual trannies much more than autos.

Jen, I forgot that's what you had....I guess I'll pass the Hotshot up cuz' I don't want to deal with fitment problems.

Just get a greddy header......greddy header is the best design for a 420a motor....hot-shot sux ass..i went thru one and i hated it..i chunked mine after my greddy install.......Besides a greddy looks better,sounds better,and its a little bit more expensive...i got mine for 400ish.....hot shot is like 200ish...

I also have the Hotshot design and the fitment was pretty rough. The shop had to really heat up the to pieces to slip them together and the bolt hole won't line up. It has one bolt in it that is holding it and the whole thing is almost touching the oil pan. The shop said the flex section was too long and it was a bit longer than stock. I am happy with the performance on it after all was said and done though.
