#24466, "Broke Pistons - Pics inside"

Well I finally got around to removing my broken pistons.

Results- Cyl. #1 Cracked, #2 Good?, #3 Cracked twice, #4 Broken Completely

I was running a "standard" HRC Stage 2 at 6-7 psi max boost (never went over that). My guess is fuel starvation caused by the old Cartech FPR or inadequate flow from the fuel pumps. The worst damage is on the cylinders at the far end of the fuel rail. I had audible knock, especially when the FPR decided to change idle fuel pressure to 60-80psi at random.

Anyways, I think bigger injectors would have helped alot. Opinions?

Wow. All i can say is, Maybe a fuel pump would help. Or bigger injectors. And i think that *small* area you pointed out just could be by chance det.. emoji emoji good luck man. Time for bottem end kit. Stroker anyone?

Having Problems? Heres my Three step solution to anything 2gnt related.
Step 1: Put down everything in your hands.
Step 2: Grab a lucky strike, Smoke it.
Step 3: Walk to the fridge, double fist some keystone ice, sit down in the shade, drink one beer, finish cigarette, drink other beer, roll a joint, smoke it, walk back to your problem, and in about 5 minutes the solution will come to you.
If not. Go here: here

If still nothing, your trying to hard. Start over at step 1.

lol- I love that big scraped spot on the piston skirt. I guess that's what happens when you try to drive it for 5000 miles after blowing the piston.

Got all the important parts in. Just need a couple gaskets from satan, machine shop should be done with the block by this weekend. So yah, next week- gonna put it back together finally!

I went to the same place Jamesman did- HomeTown Auto. They're doing bore&hone $55, Hot tank $35, and Mag (find cracks) $10... $100 total. I'm going to make Jamesman blueprint and assemble the shortblock with me, then you guys get to put it back in for me. hehe

I'll email you my fone number.

Kaiser- I have a new shiny Greddy exhaust, A/F, and EGT ready emoji No more break engine.

don't gorget to order a better exhaust system. I think that contributed to one part of your detonation problem. too much backpressure caused the engine to get hot. And not having an EGT, A/f also helped too.
