#24361, "should i rebuild..new motor..or..."

i have a 98 eclipse rs with some body mods and all that but i want to run a hrc stage 2 or 3 my main question is should i rebuild my motor with forged pistions and new con rods and everything and put the stage 3 on it even though the actual BLOCK is still the 420a motor? (i plan on keeping this car for 4-5 years i just want to make sure the engine will be safe with the addition of a stage 2 or 3 for daily driving and racing) or should i run a stage 2 without touching the internals of the motor?(will it be ok??) or should i just not risk it and buy a new motor?( i heard the evolution motor from the new mitsu coming out will fit but ill probably have to get a new wiring harness and rewire the whole car or is there any other motors that are pretty easy to install???
plz reply or email me at ttomatobear94@aol.com cause i would love to talk one on one with someone who knows there shit so i could get a lot of these questions out of the way

You don't have to rebuild just to run stage 2, plenty of guys on here are running stage 2 w/o rebuild. Eventually your engine is going to give and then you can rebuild. If you're planning on going stage 3 and you just have the money "laying" around then go ahead and take some downtime and rebuild. As for the Evo engine, forget that! The Evo's 4G63 is known as the "cyclone" and it definitely won't fit. The intake manifold is bigger on the cyclones than the eclipse 4G63 so there's your first problem, clearance. Next, is the actual swapping, everything on a cyclone is opposite side of a 420A which means NONE of your existing parts will fit. You'll need not only the motor, the ECU, but the transmission, tranny ECU, water pump, and every other gizmo you see under the hood of a Evo. Trust me, I know a guy that tried to put a Cyclone in his '96 RS and it ended in his car being in pieces and un-repairable. If you want the power of the Evo, don't wait, go ahead and buy you a stripped down U.S. Spec Lancer and order a Cyclone 4G63 strait from Japan and drop it in, it'll fit a HELL of alot easier.
