My uncle let me borrow his pyrometer to play with. It's pretty cool, you just aim it at something and it measure the surface temp of it. It's reaction is really fast too you can move it around and it'll change fast, some pretty expensive stuff hehe! Anyway I decided to take it with me on my little highway 9 downhill run. Highway 9 is a nice twisty mountain road we have here off of Saratoga in the Bay Area. Anyway after a spirited run down the mountain after going up of course I got these general readings:
Turbine housing- 700 F (woohoo hot stuff)
Oil housing- 150 F
Compressor housing- 100-150 F
Oil Cooler- 200-255 F

Intercooler:
Inlet tank- 75 F
Outlet tank- 50 F (woohoo intercooler really worx!!)

Oil Cooler- 200 F (hot stuff!)
Oil Pan- 300 F (didn't get a good look at it in the dark though might have been the downpipe O_o)
Brake Rotors (FRONT)- 300-350 F (My my I was riding dem brakes hard emoji time to upgrade to dual pistons!)
Brake Rotors (REAR)- 200-300 F
Tires- around 100 F (insides are slightly hotter, negative camber ne1?)
Valve cover- 150 F
Radiator/hose- 150 F
Intake manifold- 100-140 F
Intake piping- 100-120 F

These are all pretty rough number, I didn't take down numbers with pencil and paper I'm just pulling them out of my brain emoji

Oh yeah might as well throw EGT reading during the run. It was pretty cold out though I got lots of rich reading with AF gauge and my egts were like 1200-1400 on rare occasion it would get to 1400+ but car still ran fine.

Man I need to top off the tranny and get some rest b4 I do these mountain runs O_o... toward the top of the mountain I faded the brakes and I faded them a couple times on teh way down. I think my pads are glazed.

Oh yes I guess I'll include highway battling in this post as well. This newer style camaro dude was really wanting to pick a fight with me. At first I thought he wanted some and then I thought no. Hehe I was wrong and he chirped it and cut me off. I was like awww man... So I chased the foo to the freeway. We were swerved between cars and I was pushin the 420 hard full boost and everything and I was barely keeping up then I guess he let off either because he thought I was too much or I was a small fry haha don't know which on and I did a flyby at 120 plus MPH. Heh must've thought hmm that's no normal RS hehe at the least, i think the camaro had some mods also....

A little after the camaro encounter I come upon a silver 95/96 GSX. At first I thought it was a GS because it had a 3 piece spoiler but my friend said it was a GSX and I saw the fang fog lights in my rear view mirror. I see it fly past me and I'm slowing down so my friend in his AE86 can catch up to me after that camaro battle. THen I go oh what the hell and punch it and go after it. Take me a while to catch up to the X, he was hauling ass! So I do a two lane change around some cars and do another two lane change into his lane in front of him. Then it's on I accelerate then change to the empty lane we go at it woohoo they were fast it was neck and neck most of the way but he was pulling on me but not bad I could see I'm at full boost and 5000-6000 rpm and I've been going WOT for quite sometime already. Then I give him/her the thumbs us at like freakin 100 MPH (mind it we hit like 120+ MPH!) and I go on my way home doin some little drifting action. Wahaha what a night!

nice kill.. and very interesting readings.

about your brake temps and such.. from what I know about brakes getting dual piston calipers WILL NOT lower your brake temps.. for that you need bigger rotors or slotted/crossdrilled rotors. if anything those dual pistons will heat it up more because of how much more force they can apply to the rotor (better initial braking ability).

haha yeah sounds about right, they should bite harder though and absorb the heat better cuz I hear the pads are like 20% bigger. The Dual Piston calipers also come with slighty larger rotors. I'm gonna get em slotted and drilled. Haha considering that I read the heat around 300 for the rotors and the brake fluids wet boiling point is like 350 (used dot 3/4) I think something slotted or drilled is in order emoji. But yeah my guess is that with dual pistons it'll bite harder and faster so it'll require less riding of the brakes to slow down, that's my guess though emoji Plus I think my pads are glazed so I should probably go sand them down too.

Haha I wouldn't call those kills, well I kinda killed em emoji Man I need to get my engine rebuilt emoji
