Alright everybody, Im new here, and so Im probably goign to get laughed at very much for this, but I just gotta tell everyone what a moron I am. I have basic mods, and dont want to go internal just yet till I can afford a full rebuild kit from howell, top and bottom end at the same time. Im about half there and wanted more power so I decided to go ahead with the Jeep swap, because Im pretty good with mechanics and cars. Everything is working great after I fixed a little problem with my return spring, and car is running alot stronger than I had expected it to. This single mod made more of a differnece than my intake, exhaust, and gutted kitty combined. I was very impressed, the n about an hour ago something very bad happend,very bad indeed. There is a little hole that you have to plug up in the intake manifold. I decided to go for an oversized vaccum plug with JB weld and some electric tape to hold it in place. BAD IDEA. It got sucked into my intake. Car revved to holy hell, so I turned off FAST. Im figuring my engine is pretty close to toast. Can anybody tell me what to expect when I get it checked out, jsut so that my wallet can be prepared...

there is a chance that little piece of JBweld flowed right through the motor without causing damage.

what kind of damage are you expecting? if anything you might have a bent valve.. but that's about all i can think of.. unless it was a big piece of metal. have you fixed the whole (properly) and started the motor back up to see how it runs? you could do a compression test real quick before you fire it back up again and see if the valves are still good.

hope that answers some of your questions/fears.

I bet it is just holding the butterfly valve open...thats why it revved. Engine should be ok

welp, where did u have to plug the vaccum line off??? on the intake mani, or the t/b???

if the t/b, id yank the intake and investigate the butterfly valve.. have a buddy go WOT for u, and use a light to see inside the intake mani...

u may have to yank the mani... not fun the first time u do it, fyi....

i wudnt crank her over (comp test) til u know its outta your engine...

no reason for messin it up if by checkin around u can prevent it...

The plug was used for this little hole under the TB on the manifold, it was the plug that got sucked in, not the JB weld, The plug went right through the intake, into my engine.

The engine rev-ed because there was a hole allowing air in. There is a chance that the plug is in the head and didn't go past the valves if it is big enough. If it was small enough to get though, there is a chance of no damage because it could have blown through but it could still be inside. The only way to find out is taking everything apart.

Well, if it cound't get out the head because of valve sizes, it wouldn't be able to get into the head because of valve sizes. It is probably sitting at the bottom of a runner, chilling under an injector. I would pull the top part of the manifold and use an extractor to try to grab it. An extractor being one of those things with 3 wire-like grabbers that you can expand or contract with the push of a button. Some of them are flexible like a plumbing snake. Either that, or a shop vac and a small tube...

I found the piece, it did blow out somehow... it was chillin about ten feet from my garage door, or maybe it just fell out I dont know. but I replugged the hole and started her back up... OUCH... running really rough, runs for about twenty seconds, and on top of that something popped in my tranny causing second gear not to work, prob. a synchro or something only, but I dont knwo how it was caused. Everything is getting disassembled, so we will see what the damage really is
