#23992, "AUTOZONE is Awesome. FREE Diagnostic Check!!"

Hey,
Just came back from AUTOZONE. They are Awesome. In 20 seconds they were able to tell me why my CEL is lit. I need to get one of those Diagnostic Tool he had.

Here it is:

Code 136: O2 Sensor Bank 1 Sensor 2

Code 141: O2 Sensor Heater Circuit Malfunction

It "Sensor 2" which means it's the REAR O2 Sensor (The one after the Catalytic Converter) I thought for sure it was my Front O2 Sensor that I bought one from machv.com for $79.00 about 1 month ago. Now I have to order another one (%89.00) because nobody carries one for my 4G64 engine except the dealer and thwy want $250.00++.

Can anyone confirm these codes. I have the book at home.

I had a 50/50 shot on which O2 it could be and I guess wrong - I guess.

i would check to see that you dont have a bad wire on the 02 sensor, maybe you shorted/cut/burned one of the wires hence the heater circuit not working. i think your just missing a ground wire or something

You don't really need that rear o2 sensor. All it does is check that your cat is functioning properly for emissions purposes. I haven't had one for almost 2 years now, I just ignore the CEL.

I have a resonator/testpipe for a cat. I also have a CEL. It is for that and the evap. Just curious what the bypass was and how it worked.

Yeah, that's what I thought. The rear O2 is useless but now my car engine hestitates (Revs up and Down - Sometimes) when I'm at a red light. I have a Volt Gauge and it goes from 12v - 14v when this happens.

On the road it's fine. The gas mileage went down a little that's why I thought it was the front O2 Sensor.

I just don't want to replace this and have the engine still sputter at idle. (The weird thing is that it's not all the time).

I change sparkplugs (NGK) and the PCV Valve. Spark plug wires are Magnecor (Which are Awesome).

????

Any Suggestion.

to the peeps wondering about the bypass..you solder in a 1/4 watt, 1 megahomn resistor inline with the black signal wire on the rear o2 sensor.. i did it with my car on one jackstand..pretty easy. make sure to reset the computer aftewards
