I am getting an a/f gauge and a EGT gauge. I read that these are the basis for tuning the s-afc. I know its like $320, Is it a worthwile investment. Is it something I can tune without a dyno or is there just too much engine risk altogether? Once again I have an auto and read it would increase low end a "tad". What are your thoughts?Thanks..jd

i say if your not turbo, no need to have s-afc until you are. but if your goin turbo down the road, it wouldnt really hurt to have one when the time is right.

If you don't have a turbo or is not running bigger injectors now, then I don't think you need it right away. Unless, if you get an awesome deal or something. If you have the exra money, you could go ahead and get one. That way you could familiarize yourself with it, otherwise, you don't need it.

well, at WOT our cars run too rich, so tuning it is not a bad idea with the SAFC
and, when you do run the car leaner, because the computer sees less MAP sensor signal, it thinks there is less load onthe engine and gives you a bit more timing too. I am seeing 23 degrees timing advance, when before I'd only see 20 degrees advance
if you do get a SAFC and lean it out a bit, make sure you run 93 octane

it doesn't sound like to bad of an investment.....they are super tight too, makes you look like your a more serious racer....the rich thing at wot couldn't be more true....VX100 did you run that 15. whatever running some n20 or all motor? i'm considering getting an afc now that i'm running spray, its only a 50 shot right now but will soon be a 75 shot...should i retard the timing ? i hear that you should retard the timing 5 degrees for every 50 hp added...VX100, have you retarded the timing at all or did your motor just automatically do that once you leaned it out a little....

That run was all motor, no nitrous. I don't have any experience with nitrous. Just check that N2O section, they'll help you with anything you need when it comes to running nitrous.
I haven't touched the timing at all. The computer is giving me some timing advance (not timing retard) due to the smaler MAP sensor signal it is seeing.

...buy it and lean it out 6%, to start with, on hi throttle and enjoy the extra ponies and better gas mileage. Later get o2 sensor meter(corbins) and EGT to go as lean as you can. At WOT our cars run rich and can be leaned out for more power.
