Sometimes i put on my brake when im slowing down or coming to a stop, my rpms drop way and its like its shifting back into 1st gear but very sudden not gradually. once or twice a day but it seems to be incresing as the more i drive it.. could my tranny be slipping or could it be something else? by the way my car is an automatic 96 talon tsi.

Something similar to that happened to my car.

I'd step on the brakes and it wouldn't downshift fast enough.

I took it to satan for 30K maintenance which included some tranny work. That fixed my problem.
