Ok, I'm about to give up first off all used engines here have over 90k on them and they want 1300-1500 for them. Second, no shop will rebuild my engine with the rebuild kit from Howell. I can get a Jasper engine but parts and labor is 5600. What should I do?? I went to trade the car in on a brand new Altima but that car died on me within the first 50 miles.

Is there a shop out there that does quality work in less than a year?? Not in Ocean City

you could put in a request at one of those online parts request directories. it sends it out to lots of junkyards and they will email you back if they have the part. i did that when i was looking for a new engine and most of the offers i got were for ones with 50-70k for around $1100 shipped. i ended up buying one from a place by my house with 70K for $700, did the 60k service on it and should be good to go for a while...i hope. i would have loved to get one from jasper too! i would say if you do get a used one, do the 60k service on it just to be safe because in most cases you dont know if the last owner did or not. also the labor is alot cheaper when the engine is already out of the car.

I talked with some reps that carry Jasper that said their engines really arent very good. Kinda strange coming from people that carry them.... but thats what came out of the horses mouth.

Call up Gary at Howell, he says they can sell pre-built SHORT blocks for around 1800 dollars. All you have to do is bolt on the oil pan, head, and intake..Thats a pretty good deal knowing that you will have a pre-built engine ready for lots of boost or nitro...

thanks for the info
I finally found a shop here, he's going to rebuild my engine with 11:0:1 compression 5 angle valve job and so on for about 3500. Or HE wants to put in the 4g63 for about the same price. All including parts and labor

The guy wants to put in a 4G63? What's he nuts? I guess he doesn't know what he would be getting into, totally different setup, computer, etc... But if he'll do it cheap, shoot, go for it, it has a lot of stuff available, and I guarantee the turbo would be faster than any NA 11.0 CR. Good luck.
