the DSMLink is not made for the 2GNT. i am not sure if it will work.

I have Houston 2GNT's community datalogger, it works fairly well, but i wish i could get more than 5-6 frames a second.. damned OBD2.

umm, i had a similar ? about a week ago.. its prolly on the second or third page...in the general section.

there is pocketlogger software that can catch 6-20+ frames per second. it all depends on the ability of the ECU to monitor the sensors....

the thread is titled sumthin like pocketlogger vs. laptop datalogger

good luck.. cheapest i found was 146 for pocket logger software and cable.. the link is on that thread...

the cable is the part that costs money and is hard to get.. I'm trying to find a schematic so I could possibly build one.. but that might not be easy. no way i'm paying 150 bucks for a damn cable.

No, Breezio.. the software is what you are paying for, and the license to use it. The cable is cheap and is sold as such.

quite a bit different.. sites that sell the cables let you download their software for free. but the software doesn't do you any good without a cable.

Yeah, you can download the software, but without the license it's useless.. because it won't connect to the car.

You pay for the license and the cable - the cable being the cheap part.

the pocketlogger software for a palm (www.pocketlogger.com) can capture more than 5-6 samples a second, I was able to get around 17-18 samples a second on mine

the palm is far smaller and cheaper than a lap top, much easier to have in your car, and the data rate is faster, so it's a good choice, but you can't get the data into a spreadsheet (well, you might be able to , I haven't figured out how to do it yet) but there are supposed to be improvements to teh software in the future that will make it more user friendly

Yep. At least that is how the http://www.obd-2.com package works.
