OK i just replaced my power steering belt and my altenator belt and now my engine seems to rev pretty high compared to before.. like around the mid 2 rpm range while earlier it was around 1 1/2.. i also just unhooked my battery to reset the computer but that didnt do anything but turn the check engine light off.. now i know this isnt a real big problem but if someone could tell me why it is doing this and how i can fix it.. it would be much helpful..

What i found is that when you unplug the battery and the ecu resets and goes to its preprogrammed fuel maps the idle will be high until it re-learns the new fuel map. this i have found takes about a week ar less of driving. also what i have found is that if the alternator is not working as good as it should the car will also idle high, but then you will get a charge/battery light on your dash. basically if you don't have the charge light on, then just drive it and it will eventually go away. lates james

I had this same problem before. What I did to fix it was I disconnect and remove the Idle Control Motor(AIC). Then I jacked the rod in and out a bit, reinstalled it, and it idles as good as new. It must have been stuck...but that was just my experience.
At the very least, make sure the connection is tight to the AIC(on the throttle body).
