First off, please no "go turbo" advice. I don't see that as an option on this car, I am holding out for my next. Heres the scoop. Cruising to the beach here in NH today on our major interstate. This punk in his moms "grocery gettin'" 4 dr focus lx blasted by at 85mph givin the nod. Of course I played, and JESUS. WTF, I know my car is an auto but what a dog at 110 mph. Once the speedo hit that, she didn't want to go anymore, and the worst part, the friggin focus still pulled away. So boys and girls, heres the big Q. I need MORE POWER. What should I do next. Header and high flow cat or bored AFX TB. Which will give me more bang. These were my next steps but which first so I can survive the streets a little longer? The biggest power getter now? Read my sig for current mods. Oh, and if I go header/high flow cat, 421 or 41, which is more top end? Thanks..jd

You should have creamed that focus. You prolly left overdrive on; with it on the engine won't rev higher than 4k in top gear. If it is off you can red line it at around 120 mph. Ford foci, however, are governed at 108 mph (my mom has a zx3 )

how come we can't rev over 4 grand with the overdrive on!!!

there must be something wrong with my auto cause i redline easy with overdrive on. most times i have to lift off the gas a little so it will change gear. anyone else have an auto that does this?

there must be something wrong with my auto cause i redline easy with overdrive on. most times i have to lift off the gas a little so it will change gear. anyone else have an auto that does this?
yes it will redline first, second, and third gear and shift at 6500 rpm on these gears if you are running wide open throttle, but it won't go above 4k in fourth gear with over drive on no matter what you do.

I found a big diff. at top end with the bored TB and p&p intake manifold job done by ARD only $150. However I did seem to lose alot of low end which came back when I added the AFX udp for $160 so shop around and get the most for your money but shoving extra air in there isn't going to be as beneficial to you unless it can get back out by meens of the cat back (greddy Evo $495 shipping included). I don't have a header because I plan for turbo and consider it a waste of money since it will be replaced by the turbo exhaust manifold and the header has mixed reviews anyway.I am manual tran but that shouldn't change the results of these mods. 98 RS/Evo exhaust/gutted cat/p&p int. mani/bypassed egr/57mm TB/custom CAI/ngk plugs/AFX udp/fu,ru Stb

I have to do the same thing to my car sometimes cause around 4.5k, the exhause makes this raspy rattling sound. Does your car make this sound? I have generic short ram and magnaflow custom cat back. It did the noise even before I've done any mods.

Like I said above, it makes loud noise, i can't get to red line. Does anyone have any ideas how to get rid of raspy noise from exhaust?
