As you now know rebuilt engine and installed AEM timing gears..
had low vacuum and a choppy idle!!! So....I advanced the exhaust cam 10 degrees and yeap sounded like a million bucks Vac. inceased to 17-20 hg.. Idle has nice smooth hummmm... happy now!!! well will be after I redo timming belt.. but at least now I know the problem,and knowing is half the battle

Most of the time it is the exhaust cam gear that gets misaligned when installing the timing belt. Usually do to improper tensioning of the timing belt. If you move the crank to TDC is the intake cam mark level (or straight), but the exhaust cam mark lower than the intake one?
