#21298, "according to chilton's manual"

so last nite i'm just reading thru the manual and in the general maintenance section 1-61 "Fuel and Engine oil Recommendations" it says,

"vehicles equipped with DOHC engines have been designed to run on unleaded fuel having a minimum octane rating of 91 or 95 RON (research octane number)."

is this really true or just a preventive maintenance thing? i usually run 89 in my car, until i get my turbo anyway. what do you think?

Chiltons is wrong.

They are not speaking of the 420A .. they blur the distinction in many places in interesting ways.
