#21073, "Head shaved for better compression??"

Has anyone had the head shaved for better compression? I broke my timing belt tensioner pulley andhad to have the head checked. I shop asked me if I wanted to have it shaved while it was off. I am havine the new headers put on, the ajustiable fuel pressure regulator, the AEM ajustiable cam gears, the valve cover powder coated, the EGR blocked off, and having the cat knocked out. Any advise? Please help!

If you arent planning to go turbo ever, then might as well shave it 0.020" just for a slight increase, but at a point where it shouldn't mess up your idle with rough firing too much.

.020 is not even good for a full point increase in compression and wouldn't even be worth it IMO. Either shave more or don't shave and get high compression pistons.

Well from my understanding, you should shave it a little bit no matter what after you take off the head to get the surface smooth anyways. That is why I shaved mine. I did 0.040" and that is the most i would recommend on a daily driven car.

Fast 420a is right, I had mine milled .020, and had everygthing ported and pollished and really didn't notice much, mabey a bit more power in the top end. Now I'm going turbo and wished I haden't done it. (the milling part that is, I think the port and pollish job will help with the turbo)
