well, EGR=exhaust gas recirculation (i think)

what it does is durin idle and cruise type situations, an actuator is used to open a valve that shoots hot unburnt exhaust gases back into the intake manifold.. this reduces emissions, gunks up your intake mani, etc.. the EGR pipe resides very close to some wiring insid the engine bay, and i have heard stories of it melting wires, causin them to short, etc...

it wont give u any performance gains, just keep your intake manifold clean, not allow u to pass emissions, and maybe a lil less mpg (prolly unnoticeable tho).

thats basically what i know about it....

Is it impossible to pass emissions after blocking off the EGR? How much of an increase in emissions are we talking about here?

ima see what a fiddy has to say when i slap it infront of ol'emission dudes eyes b4 he tells me i fail.. it only took about 5 minutes to yank the pipe, and slap the blockoff plates on... 5 more minutes to trace, cut, and drill the plate (make it)...

maybe ill save da fiddy, and spend a lil while puttin it back on..

since we run OBD2, its kinda like a standard. i went at BSd w/an emissions dude a while back, and after i popped my hood(stock at the time) he pointed out this diagram on the pass side (bottom side of hoood) the diagram shows basically all the emissions related stuff, so he lookd at it, and started pointin to things in the engine bay...

basically, as long as your fart can isnt shittin gas, and your egr is connected, u "shud" pass..

i may just hit up one of the places that says no pass no pay..
