I've known many modders to leave it off but I can't help imagining something falling in there. What? I dunno! But what do you guys think? I'm coming up on 60k maint. and I'll want to show off my cam gears when they're in.

Have had mine off since i did my timing belt, and no problems yet at all. I have even powerwashed my engine right on it at least 3 times now...Just be carefull around there when the engine is running

Cool, man... it seems safe to me. Nice how-to on the timing belt change too. Here's some points for ya!

I have mine partially cut off so that the cam gears are showing, but the cover is on for the lower part of the timing belt. I never had any problems yet, but when i powerwash my engine bay, i always cover it with two layers of plastic bags so that no water gets in there.

Keep in mind that dirt, grime, oil, water, etc does reduce the longetivety and durability of our timing belts.
