When I had my exhast done, i just had a rear section put on.When i start getting above 5k+ rpm, my exhaust quiets down.What i am wondering is this because i have a factory resonater? If i have it replace with straight pipe will it be too loud? thanks.

if you remove teh factory resonator (and don't have any resonator in the system) there is a good chance your exhaust note will get raspy.

Yeah, I kinda figured that, but is it gonna make it unbearably loud? if so, what kind of aftermarket resonaters will sound good with a straight through OBX muffler

i would say it depends on the muffler.. i just put on an N1 with 2.4 mandrel bent straight back from the cat and its not too loud, but a tad raspy, but im going to put in a cherry bomb glass pack as my resonator and that should deepen it up and maybe even make it louder cause its almost too quiet

hah.. you guys want to make your sound louder??.. Shoot, im trying to make mine "shut-up". My exhaust starts a low rumble even at idle.. and 1000-3000 is ear popping~!! getting annoying sinc eI do a lot of highway driving and road trips where the rpm range is 2500-3500 on the highway.. its really annoying.. any ideas on how to make it "shut-up?" I already haev the factory resonator in the system.. any room for another one?? or a after-market one that works better??

A cherry bomb glass pack in place of the stock will quiet it down (and make it sound deeper) I think Vegas put like a 28" long one on his.. hehe.

If you want to wuiet the exhaust down, try an actual muffler not a resonator. A lot of companies make muffler that are only 3 to 4 inches around and you can weld it inline with the pipe elimintaing the stock resonator. I think this would help.

A cherryy bomb is only $15 and should be a good replacement for the stock resonator is you want a better tone. quiets down at idle but gets louder (from the exhausts I;'ve heard with one on). Or you could try a dedicated resonator, from a company like Dynomax. (probably what I'll try on my Neon, it's too loud in the highway range too)

Thrush makes a very good glasspack for use as a resonator. I replaced my stock muffler with a tiny Edelbrock RPM muffler and it was very loud and raspy. I put a 24" 2.25" thrush glasspack up front as a resonator and it sounds %100 better - now it's just kinda loud and not raspy at all. Be sure to get one that has a perforated core and not a louvered one. Perforated core glasspacks flow a lot better due to not having any metal hanging down in the exhaust stream.

9.50 @ 72.4 (1/8 mile) - 2.145 60' (street tires) - Dodges cones good too
