#20868, "Install complete runs, but with a lot of vibration?"
I just wrapped up the install. Howell bottom end rebuild kit with 8.5 to 1 compression, fidanza cam gears, magnecore wires, UDP, scraped A.C.(hey I live in Green Bay) oh yeah and Quaife LSD. She runs, but with a lot of vibration, pretty much at all RPM levels. I changed plugs and went back to my old spark plug wires that I knew were good to make sure that it was not misfiring, and that was not it, could it be a faulty injector with a bad spray pattern. Engine power seems o.k. I...cring...hate to even think that the bottom end was not balanced properly at the engine shop, now that would really piss me off. Any Ideas? I really am stumped on this one.

8.5:1 compression? Are you turbocharged?
The only thing that I can think of to check is your crank pulley. Make sure it's on flush. Check all of your belts and tensioners. If all of those check out fine, then there's a possibility that your crank isn't balanced properly.

check this, check that, check check check. hehe.. just joking guys. does anyone know if it's normal to be vibrating more while the new rings seat in? for some odd reason I think it would.. don't know though.

yes I am turbo, Star stage 2 and I also put in the energy suspension front and back motor mounts. The pulley is on all the way for sure. thanks for the help so far.

umm wait a minute here, you said you just installed the motor mounts inserts when you did all of the other work? or did i get that wrong? Im not too sure. But with the motor mounts inserts, or if you got the solid mounts, you will deffinately feel vibration. This is just a shot in the dark though...my energy suspension inserts vibrate at idle only though too..

XtremeRS, yes I did it all at once, except for the stage 2 which has been on for over a year. kiku, I got it balanced with just the flexplate. The machine shop where I had the work done saw the modular clutch(spec stage 2 with aluminum flywheel) and they figured that it(the clutch) was already balanced by the looks of it. I didn't get to drive her much today since it snowed, but from what I did the vibration is still there. Maybe I'm just paranoid, and it's just due to the motor mounts, I didn't want to waste the opportunity to put them in while I had the engine and trany already out. Anyone live near green bay?
