My car seems to run significantly better in the rain? why is this? I think it might be because of my crappy intake. would this change if I bought an AEM CAI?

Ya most likely it's cus it is cooler when it rains. Also, you feel like your car is accelerating faster when the roads are all wet, just because it's a bit more scary.

Problem with rain is that with high humidity you lode air molecules because they are displaced with water. Only thing it could be is like water injection, but I doubt it. Very strange indeed.

I can tell you for a fact that it's because of the colder air. It keeps everything cooler, water temps will be cooler, intake air temp is cooler, all that ads up eventually and will get just a little bit more power.

It was raining like nothing else today and my car bogged down when I let the clutch out. I had to slip it more than usual. My belts were squeaking like hell too, until my engine warmed up. I hate rain.
