#20086, "rear timing belt cover"

i got a friend of the family to do the work for me at a good price. he started it wed and should have been done the same day, since all the stuff is pretty strait forward. well come to find out, we need a specail tool to take off the crank pulley. ok, next day we get that and then he calls me. he cracked the rear timing belt cover trying to get it off since it was on pretty good. well i called 3 local satan's and all but one said they could have it in on sat. the other one said friday. so today comes and goes, and he tells me they only have the bottom piece in. i'm like wtf! bottom piece? it's one big piece that attatches to the front. anyways, i now have a pic and the back of the timing cover, and i'm taking both to the dealership. does anybody know the part number in case they can't find it. thanks

Well, I didn't put the rear timing belt cover back on. If you were local to the Columbus area you could have mine (but I see your not).

so you have to where the timing cover is off? what about the front cover? so you have it to where you can see the cam gears and timing belt spinning? oh yeah, here's what i need.

how long have you been driving without the cover on, and how many miles. i'm seriously thinking about doing this. especially since cam gears are next for me.

Well I don't really drive my car much, maybe once or twice a week. You are going to have to leave the front cover off (or modify it to allow for adjustment of the cam gears) if you get adjustable cam gears. The back cover is up to you; I don't want to tell you to leave it off and something get lodged between your gears and the timing belt and throw off your timing.

good good. well if no dealer can get me one within a couple of day, i'm getting the car back tomorrow. that way, when i put the cam gears in, i will not have to go through the trouble of tearing away at a brand new one. thanks guys.

that's an odd ass number! but at the sametime it's the right number. for some reason, there are like 3 numbers for this one part. the 046 number you just read off, the 04777522ab, and 04777523ab. all are the same part number. i think that the 046 is from the 95-96 and the 22ab is 97 and the 23ab from mine is the 98-99. they always changed everything so it's all straitened out now and the part is supposed to be in today.
