#19976, "Where can I find a used 420a block?"

I plan on getting a built bottom end in my car this summer. I was thinking of getting a used block and just building that and then swap the old one out with the new one. Do you guys have any recomendations on where to get a used block?

I E-mailed a couple of places a long time ago, and most said that the mounting points for any 2.0 neon should be the same. Can anyone confirm this? If so, then Junkyards are abundant with neons.

Shit is all apart. Typical...

Dave,

Then are you going to sell your current block? If so, let me know.

Dave, I believe the Neon motor is actually reversed in layout to ours. The intake manifold sits in the front, and the exhaust manifold in the rear. At least that is what I have seen in the neons I've checked out at the junkyard. Feel free to correct me if I am wrong. But I also wanted to say that the pic of your car with the Starion FMIC is really sweet. And good luck building the bottom-end.

The HEAD is reversed but the block sits the same way.

hey Gary, i need one also how much is it for a 420a motor? also if i order the rebuild kit from you as well how much would that cost installed by you already ? i plan to get the bottom end kit plus some for the top end but i dont want to put cams in? i was thinking about going with the Lifters and rockers for 449.95 but could i also put in part of the performance package only like the crane valve springs and retainers? or do i have to get new valves etc? i rather have it all done from you so all i got to do is drop it in..hehe
thanks

yeah gary, im interested in a pre-built motor too if you are actually doing that...im sure i could save as much money having you build it as i would having you ship it to me (so basically break even or save a little cash as well as a little peace of mind on the install) anyway, if youre really doing this let us know what it would cost...and how much you think shipping will be running on it.

Eclipticrider...Where is "down here"? Do you live on Florida? And my prive range is whatever they cost. I am not sure what the going price is for a 420a block. Let me know how much they are from your freind. My e-mail is d9e9g@aol.com

I was asking about getting a block and rebuilding it myself. But if you can buy a block already built that would be great. If Gary sold already pre built blocks for our cars I think that would sell really well. Most people arent capable of building there own block and most people cant have the down time that is required to build their block.

Yes Gary, I would very much be interested in a pre-built engine as well. If you do go this route, please let us know!!!!

A prebuilt engine would be kinda far fetched but a rebuilt bottom end would be a great product to sell. Then all we would have to do is swap the old block out with the new one. That would make going stage 3 so easy!
