Do the 95-99 Neons have the same automatic trans. as the 2GNT? I'm interested in the 3000 Stahl Convertor & Moroso AT Oil Cooler/Filter on your neon tranny page. Will it fit my 2GNT? Is the stall speed actually 3000 or more like 2800? Also, what is the brand name of it?

I don't know if they are the same, maybe if you could check to see if they take the same front pump bushing and seal. I would think they are.

hey Doug.. are you sure you want to put a 3K stahl on your auto? you do know that makes it nearly un-streetable. I mean, you can still drive it, but i know a few people that have had like 2500 stahl's and all they did was bitch about driving it around on the streets, even though it did help out their drag times.

yes a 3k will give you streetability problems,
Level 10 said that the highest they would go is like 2800 max.
plus the extra heat it would generate WILL destroy that slushbox alot quicker even with a cooler/filter

No... it will not be un-streetable. Have any of you driven a car with a high stall speed? It's just like slippin the clutch a lot until you've reached the stall speed. And at highway speeds the converter is in lockup. It's a tiny bit annoying I guess in stop & go city driving. Ofcoarse, it will add more heat so a tranny oil cooler is completely necessary.

BTW- I'm not building the car to drive like grandma's car... a lot of people complain that there car rides too harsh when lowered too.

Yeah now that is a problem. The TCU will see it as slippage if the stall is above 3000 RPMS. I don't know anyone that's installed a high stall converter with our trannies but the guys over at ASOG aren't having any problems going into limp mode. I guess I'll be the first to find out. Hopefully the Neon converter will work. I'm talking to the guys over at neons.org, too.

Go for it! I'll let you be the guinee pig I was wondering about getting one myself but I think I'll let someone else try it first.

If it slips like a clutch then how would that help your ETs? Does it slip and then kick hard at the stall speed?

The torque converter may fit... but the Neons automatic is a 3 speed not the four speed in Eclipses. The input shafts I would think would be the same so my guess would be it would probably work. BUt basically I don't know.

Okay.. here's an update on from info I've found.

The F4AC3 A/T that we have is not the same as the Neon guys (as Michael stated) but it IS the same one that the Avenger/Sebring 2.5 SOHC uses. I still haven't found anywhere that sells a high stall converter so my best bet is probably to send mine to Level10 and let them modify mine. I hate to have the downtime so I'll keep looking and talking to the ASOG.net guys.

I did find out the answers to a couple common AT questions... I'll post them in a new thread.
