well this morning I went up to my car, and as soon as i started it, the car died on me... so I cranked it up again.. and it died again... it could not hold a regular Idle rpm. So the third time I started it and I gave it some gas.. I kept the throttle to 1.5k rpm for a few minutes and it was fine after that.

I don't know if I've explained it good enough but, has this happen to any of you guys? or does anyone know what could be wrong?

Sounds like an idle air control motor/solenoid to me. Are you getting a check engine light? How are your plugs and wires?

no I'm not getting any check engine light, and plugs/wires are fine too. how would i go about changing that idle control motor??

my car had the same problem a couple months ago. if your battery and alternater are fine, then you might have let it run low on gas and the injectors aren't pumping enough gas to the cylinders. if the car is cranking, but not starting, or starting but dieing right away, you might want to check the injectors. my problem went away in a couple weeks and I haven't run it empty since then.

Happened to me twice.

1st time - I let my gas run REALLY low. Started working normal after starting it about 5 times.

2nd time- I left my stereo on for about 15mins with the engine off. I have a big amp so it sucked a lot of battery and had trouble starting. But after giving it gas, it was OK.

So dont worry, its normal if this happens once in a while.

When was the last time you had your throttle body cleaned? That idle air control motor is located on your throttle body, and if that is clogged and dirty it will not let air pass through during idle. Be careful if you take the IAC motor out to clean it, don't push on it or spray anything down into it (when you clean it take a rag with some throttle body cleaner and just rub it around, just try to not get it too wet and do not push on it), plus when putting the motor back in don't over tighten it, it will break.

I am not saying that is your problem but at work when a car comes in and has a rough idle I pull up the service history and see they haven't had a throttle body service for a long ass time, sure enough I take the throttle body and it looks like someone took a shit onto it. I clean the throttle body, plus the IAC motor then the majority of the time it will fix the problem, but sometimes it ends up being something else.

If you haven't cleaned your throttle body in a while I would recommend starting with that then go from there. Anyway if that is not the problem it never hurts to keep that throttle body clean so your time wouldn't be totally wasted.
