ok here's my situation, i have a 98 RS, 60xxx miles, i wanna turbo, i either wanna buy a gst or a turbo kit, is it too late to turbo it? too many miles? what can i do to prep my car for a turbo kit and which one is the best for the money i know HRC is supposed to be the best but what about the start kits ? yall hook me up with some info, thanx

Ok first off, start with a compression test. If your compression numbers are within good specs then it will be fine to turbo the car. If you have 1 or more cylinders that are different numbers than the others by a large amount then you might have a problem. A low number on a compression test could be bad rings, leaky valves, leaky headgasket, cracked pistons, etc. . . Go to an auto parts store and buy a compression tester and run the test. Let us know the numbers and we can tell you your options.

Make sure you aren't leaking any fluids from the engine or the tranny. If you haven't you REALLY should get the 60,000 mile service done. (Timing belt) As long as the car is in good running condition and all the compression numbers look correct there really isn't anything you will need to do to have the turbo because the kits are bolt on kits. As far as Stage 2 goes, you should have an exhaust. You may want to get what even gauges don't come with the kit you purchase.



Both Star and Hahn kits are nice setups. This is a VERY VERY tough question as everyone likes their own kit that they have. I'm not turboed at this point so I have no idea which is better. I also have not seen a Star kit up close as I have with the HRC kit.
