Erm is there anything I can do with carbon fouled spark plugs? I got some now hehe thanx to that stupid inline pump. Well the edges are black and the tip is still clean looking and the electrode is greyish white. I remember that you can recondition or clean plugs like clean em with bleach or something I forget. Does this work and what do I use? Haha I have the colder plugs and they're hard to get and I'm on a budget right now

I used to clean up fouled plugs with gasoline when I built go-cart engines. I wouldn't do it for my Eclipse, though. She's worth going to Napa and paying the $8.00 for the one range colder plugs.

hmm I read in the chiltons that you just scrub it with a brush, but I wanted to know if I should scrub it with some kind of solvent... Gasoline eh, I guess I'll just use a wire brush. NOw that I look at the fouled plugs in the Chiltons my plugs aren't in that bad a condition.

Yes, they are ways to clean your spark plugs. You can either (1) brush the spark plug tip with a aluminum brush or (2) use sand paper to take off the carbon of the spark plug. Be gentle and make sure you don't do it too much. Hope this helps.

If you do clean the carbon off, be sure they're gapped right before putting them back in. Just a reminder!

yep yep already took em off and re gapped em I'm just gonna tear open the valve cover this weekend and wanted to clean em off since I'm gonna take em off again...

try dipping the ends into some gasoline. That should clean it or at least soften up the carbon to where u can just use a small enough blade to scrape off, or use a brush and scrub it off. I used to help may dad doing that for his bike. Worked pretty good, at least on his bike cause they lasted like forever without problems.

I payed $22, including shipping, for my spark plugs. I drive a Z28, so that means I payed for eight plugs, twice as many as you need. Surely you aren't on such a tight budget you cannot afford $10 in plugs? If you are, here is a suggestion on how to survive on a tight budget: go buy ramen noodles! Down at the local grocery store, they are selling two 42 count boxes for $7! You can survive for a month off of $7! Now go buy some new plugs.

I'd never clean a plug - if it's fouled that bad, just replace it.. and then figure out why you're fouling plugs so you don't have to keep doing it.

hey don't talk to me about being thrifty, I'm a drifter, drifters got shit breaking all over the place that need to be replaced especially tires. That and I'm an unemployed student soldier See the list of mods I got, half of those mods are junkyard mods. Stupid EGT gauge cleaned me out for this month that's why I wanted to clean these plugs. The plugs are in pretty good condition cept there is a little carbon on the rim of the spark plug. 7s are hard to find too! I got 18 bux in my account and 5 bucks in my wallet I still need to get those darn spark plug gaskets...
