#1954, "AEM cam gears installed for $70 at the dealer"

I had a leaking water pump, and was still under the 60k warranty (just barely). Dropped it off at the dealer (Norco Mitsubishi), and they replaced the pump, and installed all the timing belt parts I purchased separately gratis. Only things I paid for were new accessory belts and a rear timing belt cover. And, I had them install my AEM cam gears when buttoning everything back up, 1hr labour @ $70. All told, cost me $160 + timing belt parts, and they did all this:

- replaced timing belt
- replaced water pump
- installed cam gears
- replaced leaking cam seals

They also installed new ball joints as per the recall. My car is happy now!

So, if you are getting a timing belt changed and want to have cam gears installed, don't let em charge you more than the basic 1hr labour.

- Haven't tried adjusting them yet. Actually, I forgot to leave any instructions so I actually have to figure out a way to remove the top part of the TB cover with it still on the car. :/

- I am thinking of doing the dyno thing, Marcus. I'd love to get some actual charts to post up on the web site.

- Bill Martin at Norco Mitsubishi was the service rep I was working with. They are fairly tolerant of mods, and they didn't freak out when I asked them to install the aftermarket parts.

- Definitely check them out for any factory parts. They have a DSM discount, and the prices even before this were better than at another local dealer. Ask them for the ClubDSM Preferred Discount Card. Good for 20% on parts and service.

Cool Juan, I plan to be there by 9 hopefully, at the latest 9:30 or so. Its first come first served on a signup sheet, so I wanna get in early (they had over 50 cars last year). I think your only choice now would be to either cut it, or break off the cover (which is really easy to do)...
