Maybe a dumb question... but when you flush out your radiator you want to catch all the fluid coming out because of the antifreeze right? And where can I dispose of it if if I need to?

robotech, If i caught you doing that I'd kick your ass. Two of my cats have died from antifreeze poisening from people dumping their old antifreeze. Dude, just stick the old stuff in any container and take it to a local radiator shop, the should take it off your hands for free. Call a couple up near you just to make sure. I just changed the coolant on my wife's car day before yesterday, put the old stuff in some old laundry soap bottles, took it down to "Mac's Radiator" and just dropped it off. no fuss, no charge, no dead animals.

I don't let the antifreeze run into the drainage runners, because I know this attracts animals and it CAN kill them. I put it in a container first and then dump it in the actual drainage pit itself. Hell, I love animals too you know and I know how toxic that shit is. I just make sure that if I am too lazy to take it to a shop, then I need to dispose of it as cleanly as possible, w\o pets or animals easily accesing it.

Actually Ethylene Glycol is a strong poison and can kill humans. You can mix a little in a sweet drink (tea, coke, coffee) and you wouldn't taste it but would probably die.

Not only cats but any small animal/child. More than likely it could put an adult in a very sick state. I dispose antifreeze at Exxon. MOTOR OIL on the other hand, it goes in the gound. fuck the stupid laws, WHERE DOES OIL COME FROM??????????????

Many places still don't offer curbside recycling. Even though motor oil is not a direct pollutant like antifreeze, there's another good reason to recycle it: oil can be cleaned up and remade into the same quality of a lubricant as it was before, and that means less crude oil we have to buy from the middle east.

My antifreeze goes into the toilet because 1) There isnt ANYWHERE around wehre i live that can recycle or take my antifreeze and 2) I rather dump it down the toilet where it goes into sewage and less change of an animal drinking it
My oil goes into a container that goes right back to where i buy my oil from - autozone. They have a BIG container out back to dump oil into which they recycle.
Dont dump oil into the ground. Your stupidity that "where do you think oil comes from" is beyond comprehension. Just because you use oil in your engine does not mean its crude oil i.e. oil which is pumped out of the ground. Dumping oil in the "ground" does not mean its going to be reused or is going to be "bio degradable" which means its not going to be used for anything for quite a long time. And unless you plan on drilling for oil in your neighborhood in about, oh lets say, a few million years, i suggest you dont dump oil on the ground.

never heard vets doing anythign about it besides telling you to have the pet "put down" Saw our older cat in the morning not looking too good.. took her in to vet.. she never came back. week later, same thing with our younger kitty. CAUSE SOME FUCK HEAD DUMPED ANTIFREEZE IN THE STREET! excuse my language but I was and still am really damn pissed about that.

Antifreeze causes kidney failure. By the time you see symptoms in your pet, it is too late. That is why vets recommend putting animals to sleep that test positive for antifreeze poisoning. I always drain mine into a bucket, and take it to the radiator shop...

yeah I took a swig of it as well I can't remember how, I think I put too much of it in the radiator overflow bottle and I sucked it out witha stray or hose. not good stuff, it looks like gatorade though
Ok well i dumped mine in the toilet. Sounds stupid but when I was in High School this dude from the water purification plant came to out chem class to tell us what they do. They filter out all that toxic crap out of waste water (IE toilet water, faucet drains) and put it back into the ocean. Hehe he said it's bad to dump clean water into salty water and stuff too blablabla. But yeah he said that if there was no place to dump some toxic shiz just dump it in the toilet cuz it's gonna get cleaned up at the plant.
